Introduction

Why talk about my favorite healthy snacks at Walmart? I’ve already talked about what I like to eat for snacks at Thrive Market, and Costco and I figured since nearly everyone has access to a Walmart, it would be a good idea to share with you my favorite healthy snacks at Walmart. Plus I buy most of my food at Walmart, so it only makes sense.

1- Rice Cakes- As long as you aren’t doing keto or paleo, these are a good choice as they are usually just made of rice, water and salt. There are flavored versions however, that also have sugar added so you need to make sure to avoid these and buy just the plain ones. You can also make a complete meal with two rice cakes and a little bit of nut butter and an apple. This can be a great unique option for lunch if you are tired of salads, soups and everything else you usually eat for lunch.

2- Raw Nuts– I saw raw nuts because you want to avoid the ones with added oils, sugars, etc and only get those with nuts and salt. This means you will be avoiding 90% of the nuts at Walmart and most have things added in but you can find the raw nuts as well.

3- Celery and Carrot Sticks with Hummus- This is always a good classic and really easy to prepare ahead of time. If you want to save money you can make your own hummus instead of buying it. I’ve found that blending together 1 can of the Great Value brand of chickpeas with 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil, 1 Tablespoon of salt and 2 Tablespoons of Tahini paste, works really well. If you want flavors you can always add in garlic, lemon, or red pepper.

4- Fruit or Fruit Cups- This one doesn’t need much of an explanation other than to remind you that if you buy fruit cups to check that you aren’t buying ones with sugar or sugary syrup but just fruit in the juice. Fruit by itself is always cheaper but I like to have some cups on hand for food storage or for if I want different fruit that isn’t in season by itself.

5- Siete chips- These are a great brand of grain free and corn free chips. They are a bit pricier than regular corn or potato chips but are also healthier. You could enjoy them with some hummus or just plain.

6- Apple with nut butter- A great way to make an apple more filling.

7- Mary’s gluten free crackers- one of my favorite brands of gluten free crackers, they are delicious with a nut butter or hummus.

8-Sesame Seeds- You can buy these lightly salted and eat them as is or add them to a salad as part of a meal.

9-Dried fruit- Another good option but again you need to double check for added sugars.

10-Chips and Salsa– Always a great option but one of the least healthy so enjoy them in moderation.

As you can see, Walmart has some great healthy snack options you just need to know what to choose and make sure to always read labels and to avoid consuming too much of any of them.
