Are you trying to make healthy gluten free living a part of your life but you are struggling with what you think are the high costs? Let me help. Here are some simple and effective ways to save hundreds of dollars on healthy gluten free eating.

  1. Cook everything from scratch. Packaged gluten free food is always more expensive.  If you struggle with time, then try weekly meal planning to make this easier. Also the recipes don’t have to be complicated. In fact the simpler they are, the better.
  2. Check the websites and social media for gluten free brands for coupons and deals. I’ve found all kinds of coupons and deals this way.
  3. Join socialnature.com to get coupons for free full sized products. I recently discovered this website and its amazing. You apply to get coupons for free and buy one get one free products. Usually they are fairly new and companies offer these in exchange for an online review.
  4. Eat mostly fruits, vegetables, meats and naturally gluten free grains like rice and quinoa. Yes it really is that simple.
  5. Use mostly spices for flavoring. Spices are cheap.
  6. Visit the gluten free expo if it comes to your city. Often the majority of products are processed and not the best for you but you can still get some good ideas and discounts.
  7. Pay attention to the sale flyers for your grocery stores.
  8. Get a Costco membership. Costco has lots of gluten free options.
  9. Consider shopping at Walmart. The great value brand at Walmart has a lot of great deals and quality on things like frozen vegetables, frozen fish, etc.
  10. Try bulk shopping.
  11. Eat seasonally. Often fruits and vegetables are less expensive during their peak season.
  12. Consider participating in a CSA for your fruits and veggies.
  13. Following some cooking blogs and youtube channels.
  14. Meal plan a week at a time.
  15. Repurpose leftovers.
  16. Grocery shop once a month for most things, with no more than one extra trip for fresh fruits and veggies and meats.
  17. Use the app for your favorite grocery stores.
  18. Consider grocery pickup or delivery to avoid impulse buying.
  19. Check out ethnic grocery stores.
  20. Check out discount stores like Dollar Tree and Big Lots. This is a tip I discovered recently but it can be a good one. Sometimes they have some great things there for a great price.
