Do you prioritize winter self care activities? If not, you need to start today. Self care is important year round and it is especially important during the winter. However, I find that too many people don’t know what winter self care activities there are that are effective and helpful. Keep reading to explore ten of my favorites.

  1. Winter Sport- like ice skating, or cross country skiing. This may seem like a lot of exercise and something that requires a lot of work and energy. However, it can also be a great form of winter self care at the same time.
  2. Spa Day- This is always one of my favorites no matter what time of year. In the winter I really like including a hot stone massage and or a steam room in order to warm up since I live in a cold climate state.
  3. At home spa day- If you are on a budget, or don’t want to leave the house for some reason, you can give yourself a spa day at home. I would include things such as a long hot bath with epsom salts and essential oils or a bath bomb, using a foot massager and or soaker, an at home massage tool and anything else you have access to at home.
  4. Steam Room- This is another must in the winter and even more so if you live in a cold climate. This is great for clearing out your sinuses. Many gyms and massage therapy places have them.
  5. Make a variety of hot chocolates and drink them. Why not? as long as you don’t consume too much chocolate or do this everyday you will be fine.
  6. Meditation– I try to do this daily and not just as part of a winter self care day. There are lots of apps and youtube videos. Find the ones that work the best for you.
  7. Reading by the fire-I love doing this. Turn on your fireplace or if you are lucky enough to have a place on your property for an outside fire pit, then you can use that. Find some novels that are fairly easy to read without having to think too much about the plot and content of the novel.
  8. Listening to music by the fireplace- Another nice relaxing winter activity. If you don’t have a fireplace you can also find a youtube video that has a fireplace and use that instead.
  9. At home pedicure and or manicure- Instead of going out and paying for it, you can get your own gels, lotions, and polishes and do it yourself.
  10. Long hot bath with epsom salts and essential oils or a bath bomb- One of my favorites I try to do this at least weekly even in the summer.

Which one of these is your favorite? Pick one and give it a try within the next two weeks.
