Are you worried that they are foods that are problematic for your child? If so keep reading to learn how to identify problematic foods for your child.
The first thing to keep in mind is that problematic foods can cause all kinds of symptoms not only digestive and or skin problems. They can also cause things like headaches, seasonal allergies that aren’t seasonal, difficulty sleep and emotional and behavioral challenges. In fact, with the way our food is processed and packaged these days, it’s rare for most children and even adults to not have at least 1-2 problematic foods. Many children (and sometimes adults too) have multiple problematic foods.
However, how do you figure out which ones?
Here are some ways to figure it out and help your child feel better and behave better.
First, consider formal allergy testing. While this won’t usually find any food sensitivities and the results don’t usually include all problematic foods. It’s a good idea to start there.
Second, consider another kind of test such as an allergy and heavy metals hair test or the ALCAT.
Third consider seeing an acupuncturist who specializes in NAET. This can help you not only figure out which foods are bothering your child but also reduce or eliminate the problems.
Fourth consider an elimination diet. This can be difficult with younger children or children who are very picky eaters. The main concept is that you eliminate foods known to commonly cause issues one at a time for 2-4 weeks and then you add them back in briefly to see if you notice any differences. If you are going to try this option, I highly recommend this book to help you do it successfully: The Elimination Diet Workbook: A Personal Approach to Determining Your Food Allergies
You can also hire me as a health coach to help you figure out what to do with your child and his or her diet and or eating habits.
Fifth you can use a food journal to figure it out. You do this by writing down every meal or food that your child eats and then paying to attention to how he or she behaves and to any symptoms that he or she has and writing them down. Then after a few weeks you can notice patterns and figure out which foods to eliminate or reduce.Did this help you? If so, I would greatly appreciate a comment and a share on Facebook, twitter, linkedin, or pinterest.
