Introduction

For various reasons we have for the most part been conditioned and trained to use medicine and pain pills as the only way to get rid of pain. However, there are lots of ways to get rid of pain without medicine that are much better for your health. Unfortuantely many of these methods are not as well known, some may cost more and some can cause side effects for people who are already caught in the system of taking pills for various things. In order to make getting rid of pain without medicine a reality, there are some things you must take into account before you try any of the strategies I will share with you in this blog post. First, you need to know the cause of your pain. For example if your knees are hurting, why? Do you have an injury? Damage to your cartilege? Damage to your nerves? An emotional cause? Did you eat or drink something that caused inflammation in that area? You get the idea. Too many people just pop pills for pain without asking why and without doing what they can to figure out why they have the pain. Second, you need to have a change in mindset and understand what these ways for healing pain without medicine will do and will not do and you need to be willing to pay more in some cases. Third, you need to understand the long term consequences of containing to pop pills for pain.

Strategies without taking anything

  1. Ice- this is a rather basic tool and is underused by a lot of people in my opinion. You can ease a lot of pains with ice and ice packs. If you haven’t tried ice to relieve your pain recently, I recommend trying it again.
  2. Heat- you can try things like a hot water bottle, an infrared light, or even an infrared sauna or infrared wraps like you can get for the knees, back etc. This is another underutilized way to relieve pain. I’ve personally found that when I have certain kinds of pain like menstraul cramps- heat works a lot better than any other method I’ve tried- and I’ve tried. alot of them.
  3. Hypnosis– I know this may seem woowoo but it really can work and is one of the methods I used to help myself heal from knee surgery without using the drugs afterwards. I’ve found that too many of us have false ideas of what hypnosis actually is and how it can actually work.
  4. Meditation- yes you really can use meditation to help yourself with pain. You can find meditations specifically for this on youtube or with apps like Insight Timer.
  5. Stretching, exercise and movement– yes really. Sometimes movement really is the cure to your pain. Moving can make a lot of pains like back pain, knee pain etc decrease or sometimes even go away completely.

Strategies with taking something

  1. Alfalpha- yes this really can help a lot of kinds of pain.
  2. Clove- This works especially well with dental or tooth pain. I remember seeing one of my roommates chewing on cloves once after getting a cavity.
  3. The right essential oils- some of these are better for discomfort and minor challenges not real intense pain, however, there are some that can be effective for this. However, this one requires some experimentation and it can be helpful to talk with someone and get some one on one guidance. I’m happy to do this if you are interested.
  4. Pain creams- there are a variety of these available and you can try anything from something like a CBD cream or a speciality cream from an orthepedic or chiroproactor or anything else over the counter you can find.
  5. Arnica- This is a natural homeopathic solution that you can use with tooth pain, knee pain and more. You can also find arnica creams at stores like Walgreens or CVS.
  6. CBD- I’m not an expert in this but I know that many people use it successfully.
  7. Turmeric– This is a great anti-inflammatory that can help with some kinds of pain.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are quite a few ways to get rid of pain without medicine so you really do not have to immeditately reach for pills when you have pain. Instead I recommend researching and experimenting your options for natural relief.
