Hello ladies and welcome to the Autoimmune Rehab Podcast. Today’s episode, we have Jillian here, and Jillian is going to be talking with us about Feng shui. I think I’m pronouncing that correctly, right? You are. You did a great job. Thanks for having me. No problem. So, Julian, Jillian, why don’t you start off to begin with, by introducing yourself and then telling us a little bit about how you got started with Feng Shwe.

Sure. Uh, my name is Jillian Rothchild Scholar. I’m the owner and master consultant at Feng SWE in motion. I help people who are dealing with sort of unanswered life questions and they’re looking for some clarity so that they can confidently move forward. Typically, people need help with issues around health and wealth and relationships, which is why people, um, consult with fei.

Often people are feeling like there’s something off in their life and they can’t sort of put their finger on it and they sort of find their way to FEI at some point, and they’re looking for someone they can trust, and that’s where I come in to help solve problems. That’s interesting. So along with that, why don’t you, I guess, give us a definition of funk because you know, I, well, I kind of know what it is.

I’d love to hear what your definition of it is. So, to me, Fung Shui is a support system for our lives. . We live in our environments and we often don’t consider the significance of them, but we should be living in environments that are nurturing and supportive. When our lives are supported by our physical environment, then it’s just easier to achieve the things that we want in life, like health and wealth and good relationships and satisfaction and career advancement and, um, the things that we wanna attain.

And so, To me, FEI is essential. It’s like people need shoes and fresh water and uh, uh, good, healthy food. And to me, FEI is essential to life. And Anne, the truth is we’re all living with some type of fei. Whether it’s supportive or not, depends on how you align yourself with your physical space. So,  funk is translated from Chinese to be wind and water, and the classical poem basically says Chi or energy rides on the wind, and it stops the boundary of water, which is how we get wind and water.

So chi rides on the wind and it stops the boundary of water. And so when we’re working with Funk Hui, we want to understand the energy pattern. Is set from the physical environment around us, the land, the mountains, the rivers, the roads, all the sort of landforms around us, and then our own individual personal energy that we are born with.

That’s sort of based on when the, our birthday and the idea is to, to match yin and yang so that there’s balance. And when things are outta balance, you can really feel it. Things feel off and things are not going right in your life and you have challenges. And when things are aligned, that’s when you have that harmony and balance that you’re looking for so you can lead a more healthy, successful, fulfilled life.

I love that. That’s awesome. So in some ways it funks a little bit, kind of like life coaching sort of, I guess you could say, but in a little bit of a different way, sort of  sort of, right? I mean, with life coaching you would come to a coach and say, I have this problem in life, and your coach would help you deal with the emotional, spiritual, mental.

Aspects around that issue with Feng Hui, you’re coming to a practitioner saying, I have these issues, and we’re gonna look at it from a completely different lens. How’s the physical environment working for you or not? And what can we do to help you align with the most supportive, nurturing energy available?

Because there’s going to be hotspots in your house that are great for your support, and there’s gonna be spots in your house that are not. And so the idea is to enhance you working with the good stuff and suppressing the negative.  as much as possible. That’s awesome. I love that. So how did you get into the whole feng shui thing then?

I’m assuming you didn’t grow up in a household with a mother and father. I did not. Things all . No. I’m like a nice Jewish girl from Ohio. Like how does a nice Jewish girl from Ohio get into shui? I was a little bit of a weird kid. Like me, looking back on my life, I used to rearrange my furniture in my room.

I had no idea what I was doing at the time. I was all into tarot cards and horoscopes. Anything alternative I could get my hands on. Ohio, like there’s not a very cosmopolitan area. But then as I got into college, I dove into self-help and the issues that were happening that I was experiencing in my life.

And somehow in there I got my hands on a Feng shui book, like how to do it yourself. And that was the beginning of me diving into something that I thought was fascinating and. . I just started reading and studying and I was working a day job and I went into master certification. I spent a year and a half doing master apprenticeship, uh, certification, one-on-one training with my master teacher, and I was sort of building my business slowly and doing this for friends and family on the side.

And I was, one day my. We all got lit off. It was like a miracle day for me. I was planning for it. I could see it coming cuz I was looking at the energy and I knew it was gonna happen and so I was like, it’s my day. I can go do functions full-time. Like yay. And that’s, that’s what I’ve been doing. That’s how it happened.

That’s awesome. That’s amazing. So did you actually travel to China to actually work with the master and learn all this bunch? No, she. She’s based in Texas and she did master training in Malaysia with the Grand Master Yap Shanghai, who’s the Wang Mastery Lineage, um, descendant, and he actually passed away before I got into Feng Hui.

And so I did all my training with her and since then I’ve connected with other master teachers and I’ve had the opportunity to go to Taiwan and experience other parts of the world.  and surround myself with these incredible practitioners and teachers who have these incredibly powerful secrets and wealth formulas.

And this is the kind of stuff that you don’t find in a book. You have to meet these people in person. You have to get the translation orally. And so I’m a classically trained practitioner, meaning that I, my practice is rooted in the classical text. It’s not a westernized or modern sort of, uh, Intuitive, if you will, approach.

It really is very specific. It uses a low pan, which is a Chinese compass, and we take a very specific direction of the property and we work with the orientation and the flow of chi and energy in a space. It’s really, really beautiful when it’s done well. And when it’s done well, your house looks still, looks like your house.

Your house doesn’t have to look like a Chinese antique store because we’re not using trinkets and objects and frogs and rabbits and things that we hear about with Feng Hui. It’s not like that. That’s awesome. So this may sound like maybe a little bit of a silly question, but I’m sure people probably ask you that.

Do you actually speak Chinese too, then? Did you have to have to learn some Chinese or how did that I, yes. I don’t speak Chinese like a second language, but I learned enough Chinese to read. The essential components of Alo Pan and some of the poems. And there are some very specific characters that you must know in your bones in order to do classical funk.

And so I spent many hours doing flashcards, , um, yeah, so it’s. To be a classical ary practitioner. You don’t have to read the classic text in Chinese. Um, but you do have to know a good amount of Chinese characters in order to get through the fundamental key fundamentals to understand what is happening.

Because Chinese characters, if you see a Chinese character, it usually has multiple meanings and multiple implications. If I say something about the five elements, which. Water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. We, in Amer an American Western perspective, have an idea of what fire is, but when I look at the character for fire in Chinese, it has layers and layers of attributes and characteristics that I associate with it based on that character.

So it really is beautifully intricate and faceted when you look at the actual character. . That’s cool. Yeah, I was like, you look at the Chinese character, it’s like, almost like it’s a drawing. Yes. Not just a, not just a letter or a word, if you will. It’s almost like it’s a visual language that has imagery that goes with it.

So if I think of fire, I’m thinking about what kind of fire it is. Well, the setting that it’s in, what its implications are and I’m, my mind calculates all of this and so, and this is what happens when you’ve been practicing for a decade. It is not something that you can pick up over the weekend. So that’s what.

That’s cool. That’s awesome. I love that. I’ve studied some acupuncture and Chinese medicine and stuff like that, you know, and been the recipient of acupuncture on a pretty regular basis. So, you know, I’m pretty much a little bit familiar with the whole concept of the yin and the yang and that kind of thing, but not really, not really in the funk sense.

Haven’t really gotten into that. Yeah, it’s one of the Chinese five arts. There’s actually five arts, and one of them is under the umbrella of acupuncture and health, and shui is under a different umbrella, so they’re closely connected. And also in my practice, I also use Chinese astrology, which is known as the Four Pillars of Destiny.

It’s called . And so often I will, Be consulted by an acupuncturist who has questions about a particular client’s chart so that we can get some clues about how to help that person. And then when you add layers of funk, you can implement a solution. So from my perspective, Chinese astrology is like a diagnostic tool, and the funk is the prescription.

Oh, interesting. Never even thought of that. . Yes, it’s, it’s really cool when it’s done well, it integrates them beautifully because the house or the property has an energy pattern and us as occupants are hu we humans, we have our own energy pattern. Like we cannot be born at a different day or time they get a different energy pattern.

We’re all totally unique. Can’t like, crawl back in your mother’s womb and be born at a different time. So the idea is to figure out and understand what energy pattern is happening.  what your energy pattern is and get them to work together so that you can, things can be smooth and calm and supportive, and you can be healthy and happy and fulfilled.

That’s awesome. I love that. So, because this is obviously a podcast for people with autoimmune conditions, what do you think of somebody who’s got an autoimmune condition and they’re thinking, okay, how can Feng shui help me? What would your answer be? Funk can absolutely help with health issues. My teacher used to say, everyone in, when they’re looking at fei, they all want the whole enchilada.

And sometimes all you go are the nachos and the nachos in funk hui are your main door, your kitchen, your bedroom, water features, and.  in classical  in particular, the stove or the kitchen is imperative to health. So when someone presents with any kind of health issue, whether it’s a chronic health issue or something very specific to the body, the first thing that I’m going to look at is the kitchen and the position and location of the stove.

And the second thing I’m gonna look at is, A person’s bedroom to make sure that they’re sleeping in an auspicious location of the property and a direction that’s favorable to them. And also check the doors to see if the door is bringing in chi from a favorable access point. So just a few small adjustments can make a huge difference from a health perspective.

Feng is unlikely to cure a major issue. I mean, I wanna make sure that that’s really clear. However, it can bring you access to greater support. It can mean that you can be in an environment that you can feel supported and you can heal. Um, you can heal in a different way, in a more supportive, nurturing way than you could without energy that’s supporting you.

Um, and it’s a vital tool in the process of living your best. That’s how I was. That’s awesome. Yeah. That’s cool. So then the other question that comes up for me is, okay, so suppose somebody, you know, you’re looking, like you said, you’re looking at like the furniture, but things like, you know, somebody’s kitchen stove or their door or something like that.

How, how would you fix that  if it was like, how do you fix it? Right. And I, I gotta say your whole house. I mean, how are you? I bought a house and I was working with my teacher and she was like, your stove is causing problems. I was dealing with these, I mean, part of the reason people get into TUI is cuz they’ve got their own issues, right?

So I’m going through with my teacher and I’m looking at all my issues and she’s like, the stove is causing X, Y, Z problems. I was like, oh my God. So I had to say to my husband, honey, we have to stop using the stove. And he was like, what? And he’s the chef, right? He’s the cook in the. So the solution to that was to use a temporary stove in a different part of the kitchen, in a very specific location to sort of stop the bleeding, if you will.

Right? So when we’re dealing with problems, we’re either digging ourselves into a hole, we sort of feel like we’re hemorrhaging money. Things just cannot get any better, and you sort of have to stop that situation. You have to stop digging, just stop the bleeding.  and sh and to get things to shift, like it’s a boat, right?

Like a Titanic. You can’t get the Titanic to shift really quickly. It takes time, so you’ve gotta start somewhere. So I was like, we’re not using the stove anymore. We’re gonna use a temporary stove. I’m gonna use a crock pot. I’m gonna use a countertop oven. And we made some changes. It wasn’t convenient, but the situations that we were in were so emotionally taxing.

We were basically willing to do whatever it took. And that’s what happens when people are dealing with massive issues, even though it may be inconvenient, it’s so important to be willing to make some small changes and test things to see how it feels. And for us and for many of my clients, they can feel it right away.

Oh, interesting. Yeah. So the solution is often to stop doing, using something that is negative and to start using something that is more support.  and the, the, the method for that is dependent on the orientation of the property and the individual people. So I do have clients that maybe there’s four people in the house and only one person is ill.

And so for one person who is ill, all the food is going to be made in a separate cooker or a separate space for that person to have good food that is cooked in a way that is nurturing and supportive for them. Um, and people are willing to do it when they’re stuck.  and I’m happy to help ’em. . Yeah, I can see that for sure.

Absolutely. Okay, so then the next question that I’m thinking of, and I’m sure any, most other people that are listening to this are thinking of, so you said, so you’re currently, I think still in Ohio. Is that correct? Is that what you No, I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I love Ohio. However Kadak gets here, I don’t have to shovel any snow, so I’m very happy here.

Phoenix, but nonetheless. Okay, so you’re in Phoenix, Arizona. I’m up in Utah. You know, I mean, I’m not too far from you, right? But let’s say you have a client in Canada or somebody in New York that wants to work with you, how do you do that? Because you can’t see their whole house. Do they take a video camera and try to film the whole house or take pictures?

Do they pay for you to come there in person? How is that? All those options are available, right? So I can do remote consultations and usually that involves a video conversation where someone walks me around the house so I can see the layout of the house. I would also request a floor plan, a proper to scale floor plan because with a low pan, the work that I do is accurate to half a degree, and a lot of the external environment can be viewed on Google Earth.

So I can take someone’s address and I can look and see what’s happening in the physical environment around the property as well to assess that remotely. I can’t build very specific wealth formulas or there’s some very, very specific formulas I cannot be, that I can’t build unless I’m there specifically in person to take a measurement.

But many issues can be addressed remotely through an online consultation. And if somebody wants an in-person consultation, I have a day rate. So I have a handful of clients in New York and San Francisco and Texas, and. Other parts of Arizona that are farther away and they’ll pay for me to come for a day rate.

And so those options are available so people have sort of tiers of available service based on what sort of price point they feel comfortable with or how they wanna get started. Okay. Yeah, that’s interesting. Yeah. I kind of figured you probably would have the option of coming in person, but I was like, that’s right.

I mean, there was a pandemic, we were in lockdown and people still needed help. Right. So actually I’ve been working remotely for a long time before the pandemic, and many practitioners were sort of scrambling during lockdown, like, what do we do? How do we do our jobs? Like they couldn’t figure it out. And I was like, well, if you couldn’t figure it out before, Like, but I had already had a plan in place and I, you know, I have a system in place, so it wasn’t that huge of a transition for me.

So my business actually grew during the pandemic lockdown, whereas other practitioners didn’t have as much success. So yeah, but that’s also attributed to the Tui . That’s cool. Yeah, I was gonna say, I, I’m sure having you come in person is, Significantly more expensive. So you know, , yes, it’s more expensive and for some people it’s more fulfilling.

Like they just wanna meet me. They wanna feel my energy, they want me to see the space in person, they want me to be able to take a very specific measurement. And that is largely dependent on the scale of the issue. For sure. If somebody is dealing with a big issue or something that they are seriously committed to fixing, then they may be willing to do that.

Sometimes people wanna start with a remote consultation, see how things go, and. In subsequent years would bring me in so that there’s lots of options. It’s really what the client is most comfortable doing, and I’m here too. That’s cool. That’s awesome. Yeah. Yeah. So if somebody wanted to, let’s say, get started, I guess learning about FEI or maybe even trying to implement it a little bit by themselves?

Yes. With Al hiring you, obviously the idea would be that they would hire you, but if they wanted to get started just a little bit, trying to Yes. See if they can fix a few things without hiring you on their own, what kind of resources would they use that you would recommend? Actually, my website has lots of free stuff.

There is actually a wonderful link in the free stuff section of my site. So my website is fs in motion.com and under the free stuff. There is a link that says Eight Mansions Toolkit. Eight Mansions is a very powerful system in Ngwe. It’s one of the key systems that I use in my practice and it’s actually something that anybody can try and, and experiment with themselves.

So I would suggest that they go to the free stuff and download the eight Mansions toolkit.  in conjunction with that. Also under the free stuff there is something called an abaza or A B A Z I. It looks like a bozi calculator. And so what someone can do is go to the calculator, type in your date of birth information, and it will generate for you your four favorable directions in your four unfavorable directions, along with a Chinese astrology chart.

So you can use those. That information, that calculator will give you your good directions, your for quote, good directions and bad directions, and you can combine that with the toolkit and you can. See, hey, am I using a room that’s favorable for me? Am I sleeping in a direction that’s favorable for me? Do I have doors that are in places that are favorable for me?

And you can already start to make adjustments on your own. See how it goes. And if that’s overwhelming or it doesn’t, you feel like it’s not, it’s not clicking, then you can call for help. That’s a great place to start, and it’s free. That’s awesome. Cool. I’m gonna have to check that out myself cuz it sounds really awesome,

It really is. It’s an incredibly powerful system. It’s easy. It’s easy, it’s not, I mean, and a lot of times people will do this and they’ll get the free toolkit and they’ll go, oh my gosh, I’m one way and my spouse is the other way. Like, my, our lives are over. No, it’s not like that. There’s advanced, there’s advanced tools for when people don’t match, so not to worry about.

Okay. Yeah, I was gonna say that. I’m sure that’s another question people, it is a common question that happens. Yes, for sure. So if somebody does desire to hire you, what is the timeframe of a process? So if you came in person, can you do the whole thing in one day or how does that usually work?

Yeah, so typically what we start with is a discovery session by telephone so I can understand what’s working, what’s not, what you’ve tried, what your goals are. Um, if someone wants me to come on site, if it’s locally here in Phoenix, it’s usually about two hours. If somebody is hiring me for a day rate, it’s usually up to four hours because we do a lot more.

cause I’m not coming back. Um, if somebody is in a different city, um, and we’ll look at the exterior, we’ll sort of take a look at the outside energy and see what’s happening on the exterior. Look at the inside, grab the floor plan, talk about where things are situated currently and what kind of changes could potentially be made.

Also reviewing someone’s four pillars of destiny, Chinese astrology charts. And then I take all that information and I go, Usually sleep on some of the information cuz some stuff comes to me. It’s amazing. I get some stuff in my sleep. Um, and I build a recommendations report, which is usually pretty extensive, outlining what I think, what I think and see are the issues and what I recommend as potential adjustments to help rectify the situation.

Um, and once the client gets that report, I offer 30 days of support. So I’m available by text and email or phone if somebody has questions. And so it’s not a one day situation. It’s an ongoing relationship that I have with my clients. And then I also recommend a yearly update because with the work that I do, we start with the baseline and then every year the energy shifts and we need to be aware of what is shifting and any kind of fine tuning that may be recommended year to year.

So usually when I start with a. . It continues on and on and on over the years. Because what happens is you start to see results and you go, oh, this is really cool. And then as the years go on, your goals change and the things that you want shift, we need to adjust accordingly. That’s awesome. That’s cool.

Yeah, I can see that. I was gonna say, I’m sure it wouldn’t be totally a one and done, but you know, not a one and done, I wasn’t really sure how the process went, so that’s cool. That’s awesome. Okay, well I think those are pretty much all the questions I had. Do you have anything else you wanted to share? . I think the thing that I wanna leave people with is that I really encourage people to, if they’re looking for wellbeing, a sense of wellness, a sense of, um, support and nurturing and positivity in their life to consider the significance of their home environment.

And there are some things that you can do on your own, and it’s okay to ask for help. , um, feng shui is not something that we’re used to here in the west. It’s not really part of our culture. Um, but it can be an amazing resource as part of, uh, sort of a healing toolkit for somebody who is dealing with challenges.

And so I hope that people will keep that in mind and consider that as a resource either for themselves or someone they know. That’s awesome. Yeah, and what I like about it too is it’s like, you know, we, somebody gets diagnosed originally with an autoimmune disorder, and of course there’s all the traditional things they think of.

Then there’s all the alternative things that you think of, like acupuncture, for example. Yeah. And when you think of even the alternative things, funk shui, at least for me, that’s not something that ever even came to my mind. It was Right. You know, , it isn’t, that’s an option, you know. , it’s I more and more here in the United States, people are coming to me with health issues because we’re being exposed to wifi, EMFs, 5g, things that are man made that we are not used to, our bodies are not used to them, and they impact our space.

Um, and so health issues are, are. We want people to live healthy, positive lives for as long as possible. And so Funk is a great resource for that. And from my own personal experience, which I also, I sort of shared with you earlier, my mother passed away from lupus. And so I have in my heart a special place for people who are dealing with chronic, um, issues of any kind, cuz I know it can be really hard on the family.

That’s rough. Yeah. And did she die before you were really into feng shui, or were Oh, I was a small child. She died in the early eighties. I was, I mean, dating myself. I was a small child when she passed away. And so, um, it was back in the time when they really, unlike I looked at her medical file, they didn’t have a clue.

Like they didn’t know what to do with her at the time. And, um, so now there’s a lot of resources and there’s so much more research and, and choices available for people. You can, you can live well. , even with a chronic illness, you can still live a full life. Um, and so of course I looked at that. I mean, I’ve looked at the house, right?

I went back and I looked at the house that she passed away, and when I looked at the Ngk and I looked at her chart, and I mean, it’s very clear to see how and why things happened, but there was nothing that I could do about it at the time. I was too young. Yeah, for sure. Absolutely. Yeah. Well, and now that you mentioned the whole life health issues, like the wifi, all that kind of stuff, does that co, do you find you are consulting with somebody that has health issues that comes up frequently?

Things like, yes, their wifi is causing issues, things like there’s potentially even bold in the house chemicals. Yes. Other things that they maybe weren’t aware of that you’re like, oh, you know, these things could be causing your health issues. Yes, actually it’s become a large part of my practice in the last few years.

almost always. Not everybody, but almost always, I’m recommending some kind of, um, E M F, wifi neutralization process, dirty electricity. Um, geographic stress is also usually a big issue. Um, one of the systems that I use in feng shui, , uh, it’s called flying stars. And the stars will behave really badly when these, when these other outside forces are present.

So feng shui from a classical perspective, is in a pristine environment. It was established thousands of years ago, where they were like walking the mountains and finding which side of the hill to live on and how to thrive your crops and how to grow your family. That was in a very beautiful, pristine space.

But now we’re living in, man, you know, manmade apartment complexes with rebar. They’re, they’re putting up 5G towers and they’re turning up the volume on the 5G to get the power to go through the rebar. I mean, there’s a lot happening that we don’t have control over, and so it’s very important that we are, well, at least in my practice, that we are mindful of the man-made components to our environment impacting the ngk.

Yeah, I can see that for sure. Absolutely. Awesome. Well, thanks so much, Jillian, for everything you’ve shared. I’m sure this is gonna be amazing. So we will link directly to, of course, your website and then the free resources, and then your social media will be down there below. So, You are interested in reaching out to her, at least take advantage of the free resources and yeah, if you feel like you really are in serious need, hopefully this has sparked something a little bit different for you to try.

Especially, I know some of you probably listening to this have tried a lot of things, but you probably haven’t tried funk, so . Yes. Well, thanks for having me. It was great talking with you. Yeah, absolutely. Of course.
