Ever since I found out in January 2018 that I have Hashimoto’s, I have been working on refining my hashimoto’s daily routine in order to make sure that I have more good days than bad. If you need help and some ideas on how to live healthy and happy with a successful Hasimoto’s daily routine or with any other autoimmune condition, then keep reading.

  1. Morning routine- I have a morning routine that I stick to no matter what. Depending upon how much time I have in the morning, sometimes there are additional activities I do, but I have a few key things that I always do. Many of the other things on this list are part of my morning routine. In a nutshell, I never miss taking my supplements, drinking at least one glass of water, doing some infrared therapy, reading scriptures or some other kind of inspirational reading, journaling and at least 10 minutes of exercise. When I have more time I will exercise more, walk my dog, and do a meditation. I plan my breakfast and lunch the night before as well as the clothes I’m going to where and I have my bag with everything I need to go to work ready so I’m not spending time on these in the morning. I also get up at least 45 minutes before I have to leave.

2. Infrared therapy- I’ve found that this is a daily must have for me. I go to Restore and sit in an infrared sauna every 2-3 weeks. However, I have both an infrared lamp and an infrared therapy light panel at home and use at least one of these for 10 minutes daily. Sometimes I will use them both morning and night. When I use these daily I have more energy and I don’t have any pain in my neck area.

3. Take my supplements- This is another morning and evening must. I’ve written another post with more details about what I take and why. However, I will repeat the basics here: multi-vitamin, fish oil, thyroid T3 supplement, Turmeric tablet, immunity support capsule, and at least one of a few different anti-inflammatory supplements.

4. No gluten and dairy- These are additional musts for me. While gluten and dairy are problematic for most people with autoimmune conditions, some people can cheat once in a while. I cannot. If I do, I notice a big difference and am miserable for at least 3 days. If you aren’t sure, I recommend experimenting. Just know that you will probably have to avoid these for at least a few years, if not forever.

5. No processed foods- This is another big one for me. Processed foods weaken your immune system and for me they increase pain and inflammation. I have to stick to just eating real food. I actually find this to be cheaper anyway and even if I didn’t have Hashimoto’s, I know it would be healthier for me.

6. Adequate sleep- If I don’t sleep well and long enough, then everything falls apart. I have to have at least 7 hours and ideal 8 hours. I usually go to sleep between 9:30-10 p.m. and I wake up around 5:30 am. You don’t have to do those exact hours but those are the ones that work for me. I also take a natural essential oil based supplement along with some turmeric and a probiotic before bed to help me be healthier and to get better sleep.

7. No sugar- these is a tough one. If I’m being completely honest, I don’t stick to these one 100% of the time but I try my best. Sugar really is bad for anyone, however, if you are trying to stick to a hashimoto’s daily routine for good health it is even more important. I don’t count honey, fruit, and maple syrup as sugar, although I try to limit these as well.
