Are you struggling to overcome grief? Many people do. I know I sure have. Some of the hardest times in my life have been after my grandparents died. They both died within just a bit less than a year of each other and I was very close to them.

That said overcoming grief is something that we all have to deal with at times in our lives. While it’s certainly okay to grieve for a short period of time, if you are finding that you just can’t overcome your grief and it is affecting your life, then you need to take action.

First, don’t be afraid of professional counseling. It’s okay if you need professional help. Very few people go through their entire lives without needing it at least a few times.

Second, if you are grieving because of the loss of a loved one or a loved pet, focus on the happy times and the good memories you have of time spent with that person or animal. The memories never die even after the person or animal have passed on.

Third, Consider incorporating some kind of aromatherapy. It may seem strange to you, but aromas have been proven to help with a wide range of emotions.

Fourth, find ways to laugh more. One of my favorite ways is to watch funny movies and old TV shows like Mister Ed and Dennis the Menace.

Fifth, realize that no grief or sadness is forever. Things will get better and you will get happier.

Sixth, Pray, meditate, read scriptures and otherwise seek help from your higher power to overcome grief. God our Heavenly Father has been through everything and he knows how to help you if you will just ask.

Seventh, ask for help from friends and family. They won’t know what you are going through unless you ask them.

Eighth, allow yourself a certain budget for shopping therapy or food therapy. Be careful to stick to your budget and to avoid going overboard with eating too much junk food.

Ninth, read my other blog post on ways to get happy.

Tenth, Smile even when you don’t feel like it. It will make things better.
