Introduction

Are you looking for gluten free low sugar desserts? I went 95% sugar free last year so I’m always looking for good ideas for gluten free low sugar desserts or even better gluten free no sugar desserts. These are a few ideas that I have tried in the past and really enjoyed.

  • Chia Seed Pudding:
    • Mix chia seeds with almond milk or coconut milk.
    • Add a sweetener like stevia or a small amount of honey.
    • Let it sit in the fridge until it thickens, then top with fresh berries. I personally really like blueberries, blackberries or raspberries the best. You also need to let the chia seeds and almond or coconut milk soak overnight for the best results.
  • Coconut Flour Pancakes:
    • Use coconut flour instead of regular flour for pancakes. In order to make this work though you need to use more eggs than you are used to. I find it takes about 4 eggs for only 1/2 cup of coconut flour. You can try mixing coconut flour and almond flour and use fewer eggs. Check out this coconut flour pancake recipe for one example.
    • Sweeten with a small amount of maple syrup or honey.
    • Top with sugar-free fruit compote.
  • Avocado Chocolate Mousse:
    • Blend ripe avocados with cocoa powder, a sugar free sweetener, and vanilla extract. My favorite with this one is stevia but you can also try maple syrup. I don’t recommend honey as it changes the consistency and the flavor is a bit off.
    • Chill in the refrigerator until it reaches a mousse-like consistency.
  • Almond Flour Cookies:
    • Replace regular flour with almond flour in cookie recipes. This actually works really well without needing to add in other things or change the recipe. However, you should add in some xantham gum if you want the cookies to hold together at all.
    • Sweeten with a sugar substitute or use a small amount of coconut sugar.
  • Baked Apples:
    • Core apples and bake them with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
    • You can also add a small amount of chopped nuts and a drizzle of honey. If you like raisins, you can also add these. I would bake at 350-400 for about 30 minutes.
  • Sugar-Free Sorbet:
    • Make a refreshing sorbet using frozen berries, a touch of lemon juice, and a sugar substitute. You can use a blender like a blendtec or you can use an at home ice cream maker.
  • Greek Yogurt Parfait:
    • Layer gluten-free granola, Greek yogurt, and fresh berries. If you are also dairy free, you can use dairy free yogurt. You will want to read the label though on any yogurt you use as many yogurts have a lot of sugar added in them.
    • Sweeten the yogurt with a bit of honey or stevia.
  • Pumpkin Spice Energy Bites:
    • Mix pumpkin puree with almond flour, nut butter, and pumpkin spice.
    • Form into small bites and refrigerate.
  • Cocoa-Dusted Almonds:
    • Roast almonds and coat them in cocoa powder with a touch of your preferred sweetener.
  • Berry Popsicles:
    • Blend mixed berries with a bit of water and sweeten to taste.
    • Pour into popsicle molds and freeze.

Remember to adjust sweeteners to your taste preferences and dietary needs. Additionally, always check labels to ensure that any processed ingredients are gluten-free and low in added sugars.
