What Is Alter Me?
This Alter me review is designed to share with you what I like, don’t like and really think about the Alter Me app and program.
The Alter Me is an at home workout program that includes an app and an optional mirror. You do have the option of purchasing it without the mirror and using just the app. That is obviously quite a bit cheaper. However, I purchased it with the mirror so I’m going to be writing this review based on that. It’s designed to replace the gym and most other at home exercise options. The recommendations and exercises are also based after your genetics as pre-determined on some settings and as tracked via a bracelet that you wear.
My First Impressions
My Alter Me arrived about a week after purchase. I used my HSA and was on payments from my HSA for about a year with no ongoing payments required. It was really easy to set up. However, the mirror is quite large so you do have to have the room to store it. I keep it against the wall in my family room.
I have loved it from the first day I got it and I still use it 2-3 times per week. The routines are easily explained and I love the variety of exercises and instructors. They have everything from stretching, to weight lifting, to dance and cardio routines. You can choose from a workout that lasts 10 minutes, 20 minutes or 30 minutes.
Key Features
Mirror
You turn it on at the same time as the app and it shows you how to do the routine on the mirror like a big screen. You can also adjust the volume and choose the music you want to play.
App
Is used to select the exercise routine and track everything. You can also track your food intake although I haven’t use this part of it. You can also use the app without the mirror if you either don’t have the mirror or if you are traveling and don’t have the mirror with you.
What I Liked
I really like the variety of exercise routines and find them to be easy to follow along with. They also have a good selection of music that you can choose from. The yoga, meditation and stretching exercises are also a nice touch. You can also choose the level you want your exercise to be at, or you can let the app decide based on your prior exercises and or genetics. You can also choose with or without weights or exercise bands. (The bands are included with the Alter Me) The instructors are informative and do a great job.
What Could Be Better
The wristband is awkward, hard to sleep with and doesn’t work great. I also already have an Oura Ring so I would like it if somehow the tracking could connect with what I already have rather than a separate thing. So I haven’t used this part of the Alter Me since about a month after I bought it.
Pricing
I paid about $2,500 using my HSA and with payments over the course of a year. If you choose the app or can pay all at once with one payment then it would be cheaper. This was in January of 2025 so the pricing may have changed. While it may seem pricey when you compare the costs of purchasing equipment and gym memberships, I think it is worth it. Especially since it doesn’t have an ongoing subscription cost or at least it didn’t when I bought it.
Who Alter Me Is Best For
The Alter Me is best for people who want to be able to work out at home and need to do more than just walk or ride a bike or lift weights without any clue as to if the routine you are doing is what you need for your body. If you need to lose weight then the Alter Me is also a good choice. You should also be committed to regular use.
Call to Action
If you are at all interested in the Alter Me, I encourage you to check it out. You can get a free 30 day trial to see if it’s right for you but I wouldn’t just sign up for a free trial.
Check it out here. (affiliate link) but I wouldn’t recommend it, if I didn’t really like it and find value in it.
