The Winter 2010 Olympics will begin in Vancouver, Canada in less than 3 weeks. Being an Olympic athlete is not easy. In fact, it is very difficult and challenging. I was watching the women’s figure skating finals that would determine who takes the two spots for the US team on Saturday night and while all of the ladies were amazing, there are some great lessons to be learned as well.

Sasha Cohen who has already skated in previous Olympics fell during her long program and placed 4th as well. The main thing that caused her poor performance was the fact that she had taken a break from skating and this was her first public performance in a few years.

Are you being consistent with your network marketing business? Do you prospect, train, and follow up every day? Do you work your business even when you don’t feel like it. While Sasha probably had good reasons why she did not perform publicly for awhile and then she decided to come back and try for the Olympics, so do many network marketers. They make up excuses why they are not doing what needs to be done and then they wonder why they are not seeing the kind of success that they
want.

By contrast Rachel Flatt at the young age of 16 has been dedicated the whole time and has not stopped practicing and appearing in public ice contests. As it says in this article about her preparations for the Vancouver Olympics, Rachel hasn’t even read a book that she has been wanted to read because she has been so focused on getting into the Olympics.

As we found out on Saturday night, her hard work and commitment paid off when she took first place.
Are you accepting excuses as reasons why you are not at the level in your network marketing business where you want to be?
