Grocery shopping with food allergies can be a real pain. Here are some tips to make your life easier.

1. Stick with fruits and vegetables as your main source of food. While this is a good idea, no matter what, it will make your life a lot easier and be cheaper if you make fruits and vegetables the staple of your diet.

2. Read all the labels and then read them again. If in doubt, don’t buy that food.

3. Look for a special aisle or section for natural or allergen free foods.
Many stores have these and it makes shopping for what you need easier.

4. If you don’t know what an ingredient is, then don’t buy that food. Unfortunately many foods have additives and things in them that make it hard to tell what is really in it.

5. Consider shopping at local farmers markets and co-ops. This is a great way to get local, fresh and organic food that is better for you overall.

6. Use pinterest or find blogs with recipes for people with food allergies and make a shopping list based on the ingredients you will need.

7. Keep a list of your food allergies/intolerances with you, if you have a large list. That way you won’t forget what you can and can’t eat.

8. Plan ahead for all meals. This makes everything much easier.
