Network marketing is a great business and can pay big returns for years to come. However, in order for you to be successful with your network marketing business, you must operate your business in the correct way. Here are some common errors that people make that kill their network marketing business.
1. They fail to treat it like a real business. They dabble around, treat it like a hobby and do not do what people who start a franchise or another kind of business do. Network Marketing success requires you to treat your network marketing business like a real business.
2. They fail to let your warm market know you are in business. While you do not need and should not directly sell or use pressure on your friends and family, you do need to at least tell them. They can be some of your best supporters and customers even if they do not join you in your business. Hosting an open house and inviting everyone is a great way to do this.
3. They give up too soon. This is a big one. Many people jump around from one network marketing company to another. When they have not made big money with one company, they go to another one. Instead they should be asking, what am I doing wrong? And work on changing their attitude and mindset for success.
4. They try to work multiple companies at once. This is another big one. While it may seem logical to offer products and opportunities from more than one company, the reality is that you really cannot focus on more than one company at a time if you expect to do well.
5. They throw all of their eggs in one basket by only using one marketing method. Whether it is the internet, parties, networking, shows or something else, they spend all of their time on one method. Instead you should focus on 2-3 methods and develop as many income streams as possible.
6. They fail to define a clear target market. They market to so many niches at once that they lose focus. This is especially true online.
7. They spend too much money in the beginning on marketing and other materials before they have made any money to spend.
8. They try to brand the company instead of branding themselves. This creates too much spam, hype and competition. By focusing on branding you, you make competition irrelevant.
9. They chase people or use too much pressure to try to sell people into their network marketing opportunity.
10. They forget that they are in a people and relationship business and focus too much on money and what they will get from their network marketing business.

Hi Anna, I get what you are saying regarding an online business and think you are right on the money there. I use online marketing but my business requires a physical person to come to my physical location. I’d love you to do an article on that topic as a follow up. Thanks Stephanie
