Christmas can be a hard time of year if you are gluten free and or dairy free. However, it can be done and no you don’t have to suffer from self deprivation or avoid all parties and eating because you can’t eat any of the food. In fact, here are 10 of my favorite Christmas recipe ideas without gluten or dairy.

1. applecider

Apple Cider is naturally gluten free and dairy free. You can play around with various recipes but I love it plain from the store, or I like adding in a pinch of cinnamon, honey, and or 2-3 drops of wild orange essential oil.

3. <peppermint

Anything with peppermint and chocolate in it. My favorite way is to add 1-2 drops of peppermint essential oil to either dark chocolate or white chocolate. A little goes a long way so you will want to be careful to not add a large amount. It is also good added to hot chocolate as well.

4. Pumpkin Ice Cream- so yummy. The regular store bought kind has milk in it and sometimes gluten too with the pie crust so you either need to make your own with a recipes like this one. Coconut Mama’s Pumpkin Ice Cream or Coconut Bliss has it sometimes but it’s seasonal and not always available at every store.

5. honeyglazedham

What would Christmas be like without a honey glazed ham? You have to be careful with what ham you buy and with what you put on it to make sure it is gluten free and many of the recipes also have sugar. However, there are some good ones, like this one that uses maple syrup and pineapple juice. Crockpot Maple Syrup and Brown Sugar Ham.

6. Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Donuts. I found these on pinterest and while I haven’t tried them yet. I’m not a big donut eater anyway and never was even when I was eating gluten. They still look really good and she uses a gluten free flour mix so you don’t have to make your own. From my experience that is one of the biggest challenges with baking gluten free.

7. roastedvegetables

Roasted vegetables. This is my favorite way to eat veggies. They are so delicious and the combinations are endless. My favorite oil is olive oil but coconut or sunflower oil can work too. I also really like playing around with a variety of seasonings although lemon and black pepper is one of my favorites.

8. bakedapples

Baked apples are always a great Christmas recipe and really an anytime gluten free and dairy free recipe. You bake apples in the oven with a mixture of honey, and cinnamon and raisins if you want. You can find lots of recipes but I prefer to just wing it with whatever amount makes sense.

Cranberries are a great Christmas recipe item so why not make some gluten free and dairy free cranberry bread? I found this recipe which looks really delicious. Paleo Cranberry Bread.
